Plein Aire on Chicken Dinner Road

February 16, 2016

Beautiful day for plein aire painting. I went to Marsing area on Chicken Dinner Road, headed south. There is a farm where the owner has been collecting old farm equipment for display. I chose the old Ford truck, hay rake and bale loader for subject matter and did a quick (1.5 hour) 5X7 guash.

I buy small frames at second hand stores and use them for quick plein aire studies . . . some have mattes and some I paint on the backing with oil or acrylic, but it is fun and fast to go small and frame it right up. Sometimes they are good. Sometimes they are bad. Like this one, sometimes their are just fair, but always it is fun to get out and paint.
