Friday I attended the Plein Air Painters of Idaho outing at the Botanical Gardens in Boise. It is a very nice place with a good many subjects one can paint. Friday, I attended a workshop by David Mensing. I was very impressed and learned a bunch. His rate is wonderful and his knowledge and ability is deep. I really don't like paying huge sums for workshops, in fact, I don't. His was a great value and I learned a ton. Thanks to PAPI for the opportunity.
I tried Saturday to put some new knowledge into practice. I didn't want to drive all the way to the Botanical Gardens, so I painted locally at the Caldwell RR Depot. I enjoyed myself, but old habits crept right in and before I knew it, I was just doing my thing, which often does not work and didn't yesterday. I will keep practicing and I have enrolled in Mr. Mensing's next Boise workshop for a refresher. It will be held at the Eagle Plein Air event, sponsored by The Gallery of Finer Frames in Eagle, of course. It is a wonderful event over three days, not including the Sabbath, which I believe will allow more to participate, including me.
