Plein Aire

June 9, 2016

Painted with three other NAG painters at Wilson Springs yesterday. It wasn't nearly so hot as it was forecast, thank goodness. We got some nice paintings. I painted with oil and palette knife. It was great fun and I did better than usual. Then, I looked at my two paintings, one a horizontal rectangle and the other vertical and my horizon lines appeared smack in the middle. I did get some good reflection. I was ready to paint outside after The Eagle Plein Air.

I found this on the phone:    I took it while I was painting in the EPA. It is a better photo than the one I took of the painting, framed and hanging near the floor in the gallery.  I really liked the painting actually, but it didn't show so well with no light.

Good day at the studio today. We painted sunflowers, practicing  softening edges, using a limited palette and good amounts of water to make the pigment move. There were some good things happening and I believe the learning curve was steep.
