Finished a few paintings this week:
This is an 11 X 14 watercolor on Arches 140 hot press. I was experimenting with the smoothness of the paper actually, and painted a bid with photos from Gail's farm ( a Nampa Art Guild partner).
This one is from a photos I took last spring driving back from Idaho Falls to Boise, through Ketchcum and Stanley Basin. I have photographed this old barn many times and painted it twice. I added the wreath and snow. It is on Arches 140 lb. rough,15 X 22. I like it, but my snow is a bit wild for me (again, a Fred Ochi technique that I enjoy).
I got the bright idea of doing a Sun Valley/Ketchum/Bald Mountain/skiing series, mostly because I have such fond memories of skiing and spending so much time in the Wood River Valley of Idaho. Those were sweet days.
I completed this one Friday: 22 X 16.5 watercolor on Canson 140 lb paper (I like the paper, but it does not accept scrubbing and one must be careful with tape and masking.
This is a memory type painting on Sun Valley Road heading into Ketchum. I slapped in an old VW bus and an old porsche. The car/blob toward main street is too non-descript, and this photo is not doing the painting justice. I will likely paint this one gain on Arches. I think my scale is off on the Porsche as well (I tried to put in the VW as if it were down the street a ways, but then the Porsche is too large) . I am excited to continue with this series. I have not been a real series guy.
