The Nampa Art Guild Outdoor Painters went to Hyde Park in Boise this morning. We met at, about, 8:00 and spread through the few blocks and had a great time painting. The weather was cool enough and there was shade and a bit of a breeze. I got this:
I painted in my sketchbook on two pages that I had previously tinted with a sort of orange hue watercolor. Not a good idea. I painted with gouache and the colors kept mixing and sinking in so I didn't get at all what I wanted. I switched to casein and had more luck.
I notice my scale on the right hand page does not match that of the left. I have to be more cognizant when I paint. It was fun and I do like the dulling quality of casein and the opaque mix. I am still enjoying, and trying to learn to use gouache and casein in my sketching. Ideas? Criticisms? Coaching?
