I zipped up to Idaho City Wednesday to paint this old junk store called "The Sluice Box". It is a popular site with artists and vacationers. The weather was sweet and the people were very friendly. I had several locals come visit and a lady from the Bay Area and her friend from Eugene. I painted them in as they were peering through the windows along the street. 11 X 14 transparent watercolor, painted a bit thickly for some opaque darks under the sides.
I'm going back to paint some of the other old, partially ornate, buildings and people. Got to get back to Idaho City soon.
Painted outside the studio Tuesday. I wanted to paint outside, but I didn't want to travel, so I slipped out the studio and down the block for a 11 X 14 gouache of the Boone Chapel. I sat in direct sunlight, hence the dark values, EVERYWHERE. Still, I enjoyed it and like the painting.
